More Than Seven Thousand Orthodox Christians Held Prayers Against the Law on Domestic Violence

Standings in prayer "For the family" were held in 45 cities of Russia. More than seven thousand Orthodox activists expressed their opinion against the adoption of the law on domestic violence. They believe that this initiative may lead to an invasion in the family business.

Prayer standing "For the family!" in the capital, it was held in the Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Kadashi. About 3,000 citizens came to the Cathedral prayer. Archpriest Alexander Saltykov served a prayer service with the reading of the akathist to the most Holy Theotokos. There were many flags among the participants, most of them belonging to the Sorok Sorokov movement.

It should be noted that the prayer stand was also held in St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Vladimir, Volgograd, Kirov, Novosibirsk, Smolensk, Krasnoyarsk, Nizhny Novgorod and other cities of the country.

The event was organized by such organizations as the Association of Parents' Committees and Communities (ARKS), the public movement "For life", the Fund of Studying of Peter Stolypin's Heritage, the Public Organization "Many children — Well", the movement for the revival of the Spaso-Andronikov monastery, as well as the public movement "Sorok Sorokov", Rusvesna reports.

It should be noted that the participants of the event collected signatures against this idea. The law on domestic violence also provides for the introduction of protective orders that prohibit the harasser from approaching the victim. The authors of the document are going to submit it to the state Duma by the end of January.
